Gangtok is a tourist spot in Sikkim and is also the capital of Sikkim. It is situated at the altitude of 1547m above sea level. We three also visited Gangtok in my Summer vacations. In order to reach Gangtok there are two ways, th

a flight and then hire a helicopter from the same airport and reach Gangtok. Gangtok is around 114km from Siliguri, 124km from Bagdogra, 97km from Darjeeling and 75 km from Kalimpong. After raeching Gangtok, you will be able to see innumberable hotels ranging in the price range from Rs.400 to Rs.10,000 and you can select any one according to your budget. In the western side of Gangtok, you can see the beautiful range of the Himalayan Mountains such as Kanchenzonga, Pandim, Norsen, Sinolchu and lots more. The maximum temperature at summer in Gangtok is 21°c and the minimum temperature is 3°c, if you intend to visit Gangtok in the Winter Season, you must take good sweaters along with you. We visited Gangtok in the Summers and at that time, the temperature there was very
pleasant. There are 140 monasteries in the sate of Sikkim and if you want, you can visit some of them. One of the monasteries is Enche Monatery which was built in 1840, it is a very big and beautiful monastery, when we reached the monastery, my mother was so delighted to see the beauty that she took a pensil and paper and started drawing, as she is an artist, you can also see the Kanchenzonga from this Monastery and can compare this beauty with Heaven and it is the best place for meditation. Except this you can visit Institute of Cottage Industry, Institute of Tibetology, Tashi View Point, Orchid Farm, Flower Garden, Do Drul Chorten, Ganesh Top, Ban Jhankri Falls, Hanuman Top, Ropeway and many more. Other than these, the M.G Marg at Gangtok is the best pl
ace for shoppers and fooders and there are many restaurants which provide you with all your favourite dishes, I enjoyed eating the Chinese Dishes and the momos and thuppa. We also made three new friends there, Mr. Sonam Pradhan (a government officer), Biren and Bubu who took us to new, unknown destinations – Ban Jhankri Falls, Rumtek Monastery and many more. We also attended and joined the lamas at their evening pray in the Rumtek Monastery. You can visit Yum Thang which is 141km from Gangtok, it will take you 3 days for the total tour of Yum Thang through a hired taxi.
